Reading Queue: February

The Reading QueueWelcome to this month’s Reading Queue (hosted by myself and Books A True Story)!

Me last week (35 weeks)!

Me last week (35 weeks)!

Well, I’m officially about a month away from my due date and from meeting our little Marshmallow! Things are about to get crazy! Mentally, I need Marshmallow to come after the due date (March 2) because I just feel completely not ready for anything earlier! But of course, baby will come when baby wants to come!

On to more bookish things!

It’s time for my monthly Reading Queue, which means I’ll recap last month’s books read and preview what I plan to read this month. Notice I say “plan”! It’s a loose goal that I try to keep to stay organized, but I usually end up getting distracted by other books that come my way!

Reading Queue: January

The Reading QueueHappy 2015!

It’s a brand new year friends! There are going to be a lot of changes happening for me this year as we Hi Catwill welcome our first baby in early March. It’s really intimidating but really exciting all mixed together!

As usual, as the New Year arrives I can’t help but think about how my 2015 “Bookish Landscape” will look. I always get so excited to start the year of with a reading BANG!

Since today is January 1st I have decided that one easy way to start 2015 off right is to attempt to read more from the books I already own. Every good library contains a ton of books one hasn’t read yet, but I’d like to begin by finally giving some attention to these titles.

Top Ten Tuesday: My Fall TBR List

Welcome back BookTastyians!

Every week I participate in Top Ten Tuesday, which is hosted by The Broke and Bookish.

Today’s list theme is Books on my Fall To Be Read (TBR) List. Now, you’ve probably already seen my September Reading Queue post, which has books I plan on finishing throughout the month of September.  This TTT theme however, has to do with my reading plans for the entire fall, so there will be some that didn’t make it onto my Reading Queue.

Most of these titles are not new releases (although some are), but are instead books that have been sitting on my shelf for a while now and deserve a little love and attention. I would LOVE to get to all of these before December, but we’ll see how that goes!

Waiting on Wednesday: Uninvited by Sophie Jordan

Welcome back!

Waiting on Wednesday (hosted by Breaking the Spine) was created to allow book bloggers a space to highlight upcoming new releases.

This week I’m shining the spotlight on Uninvited by Sophie Jordan.

UninvitedThe Scarlet Letter meets Minority Report in bestselling author Sophie Jordan’s chilling new novel about a teenage girl who is ostracized when her genetic test proves she’s destined to become a murderer.

When Davy Hamilton’s tests come back positive for Homicidal Tendency Syndrome (HTS)-aka the kill gene-she loses everything. Her boyfriend ditches her, her parents are scared of her, and she can forget about her bright future at Juilliard. Davy doesn’t feel any different, but genes don’t lie. One day she will kill someone. Only Sean, a fellow HTS carrier, can relate to her new life. Davy wants to trust him; maybe he’s not as dangerous as he seems. Or maybe Davy is just as deadly.

Talk about in intriguing summary! I love the description as a mashup between The Scarlet Letter and Minority Report! thriller and it totally creeps me out – the idea of being able to predict a homicidal tendency gene! I still haven’t read Jordan’s Firelight series (even though I own the first book) but I hear such good things about her books that I’m excited for this one! Also, did you pay attention to the cool DNA hair on the cover?! WHAT!!

Uninvited is scheduled to release on January 28 from HarperTeen.

Bonjour!

I’ll be in Paris in two weeks! Whoot! Whoot!

Also…today is my birthday! Wow! I’m 30…yup.  So, let me say that my only birthday wish is….

a Colin Firth birthday cake!

Who can make this happen?! Go!

It’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday!  Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the wonderful people over at The Broke and Bookish. Each week they post a theme to create a list of related books.

This week the theme is Top Ten Books I’d Want on a Deserted Island.  I’m taking this theme to books I haven’t read yet but have been trying to forever! If I had these books on a deserted island with me I could actually read them without life getting in the way.
