As usual I’m reading a ton of books all at the same time. How I manage this, I have no idea! This time around I’m in the middle of some audiobooks, e-books and print copies. Here they are:
Don’t Judge a Girl by Her Cover by Ally Carter (MG/YA)
The Scorch Trials by James Dashner (listening with my husband so this may take longer to finish) (YA)
Tuesdays at the Castle by Jessica Day George (MG)
In Too Deep by Amanda Grace (ARC) (YA)
May B.: A Novel by Caroline Starr Rose (MG)
I have no idea when I’ll actually finish these, but there they are! What are you currently reading? Any suggestions for my “Too Read” stack?
Oh so many books! Its like I just keep adding and adding to my To Read stack building it higher and higher every day. I really think that I should get a few hours in my work day allotted specifically reading. Seriously, then the kids would actually see my reading not just hear me telling them about the books I read. But alas, I have to get creative with my personal time so that I don’t neglect my relationships with real people, despite the fact that sometimes book relationships are just easier.
In fact, no one ever said it better than librarian lover Ryan Gosling:
Okay, so in between having a normal healthy life (and not obsessing with my books…I mean I’d never do that!) I have a few items on my currently reading list:
The Whole Story of Half a Girl by Veera Hiranandani (ebook, ARC) Very good so far, even though I’m only four chapters in. Part of the 2012 Debut Authors Challenge.
Sapphique by Catherine Fisher (audiobook) I’m just as entranced as I was with the first book, Incarceron.
Halflings by Heather Burch (ebook ARC) Liking this supernatural fiction read more and more. Also, part of the 2012 Debut Authors Challenge.
13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson (library bound hardcover) I have been waiting to read this one for a while and so far it’s not disappointing!
Well, I hope everybody had a lovely Christmas! The Husband and I got to visit with our families in Jacksonville, so it was nice to get out of town for a little while!
I managed to squeeze in a little reading time, usually right before falling asleep. What books have I been munching on?
-13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson. I’ve been wanting to
read this one for a while now and Maureen Johnson is so hilarious on Twitter I expect to enjoy her writing. I’m in page 4 so I’m just starting out.
-Crossed by Ally Condie Loved te first book in this series and am about halfway through this one. The duel perspectives is pretty cool!
-The Maze Runner by James Uggghhh I really like this book, but we’ve been stuck because
I somehow have misplaced the last CD of the audiobook! So, after weeks of being on the library wait list I finally bought the book so the Husband and I can read it allowed to each other. Finally!
There are still five full days of my Christmas Vacation left so I plan on finishing some of these and working on some reviews.
What titles have you been reading over Christmas? If you have any suggestions for the new year let me know; I always love suggestions!
Did I mention that Christmas Break is wonderful? Well it is!
I have a pretty hefty list of what I am
am currently reading (or listening to).’
-The Maze Runner by James Dashner. I’ve still haven’t finished it because the audiobook I got from the library was missing the last CD. So that’s what I’m waiting for. My husband and I were listening to it together so I’ve had to give up all thoughts of reading the copy in my Media Center while at work!
-Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare. I’ve got the audiobook from Audible.com and I’m
just about to get to the mysterious ball (is this where the infamous balcony scene takes place?!)
-ARC of Showoff by Gordon Korman. So, this is the fourth book in a series and I haven’t read the others but now I totally get why my students like them do much.
-ARC of The Boy Project: Notes and Observations of Kara McAllisterby Kami Kinard. So far it seems cute and I think my girls at school will really like it!
I may haven bitten off more than I can chew this week. I’m currently reading/listening to four (yes four) books.
1. Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie by David Lubar (Hilarious and may be my favorite boy narrator ever!)
2. Matched by Ally Condie (Loving it and am very intrigued!)
3. Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare (Will Herondale?!?! I’ve missed you so, so much you British Shadow Hunter you!!)
4. Haflings by Heather Burch (ARC; am only like one chapter in and its pretty interesting so far!)
So, yes I have no idea how I’m juggling all of these at once…but somehow its working….
What are you currently reading?
Remember when I asked you what audiobook I should listen to next?
No? Well then look here.
Anyway, I chose Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick and Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie by David Lubar.
Earlier today I finished Crescendo. Holy cliff hanger Batman! Ummm…so yeah, now I totally have to get the third book, Silence. I’ll post my review of this one soon.
I’m about five chapters in to Lubar’s Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie, and I must say I’m really enjoying it. The main character, Scott, is definitely a breath of fresh air in my usually female protagonist saturated reading list! Plus, it’s a Full Cast Audio production, which I always adore. I have a (not-s0) secret dream that one day I’ll work for them as a voice actor; it would be so fun!
So, that’s what I’m reading today!
Being an educator is wonderful during the Holiday Season because we are gifted with long expanses of time where we don’t have to be at work. Time to do whatever we please…like read! So what am I currently reading? Well, I’m still listening to The Maze Runner by James Dashner and Incarceron by Catherine Fisher. But I also started Gordon Korman’s Island series Book One: Shipwreck. And at the prompting of a student who told me, “You have to read The Summer I Turned Pretty! I’m pulling it out of the cart for you to read over Thanksgiving!” as we were going through a cart of new books, I’m also
starting that title by Jenny Han. So there you have it; my current reads!
Okay, so I’m actually listening to two books right now, not “reading” them. How can I be listening to two at once? Well, one is for myself while in the car, running etc… while the other one is for listening with my husband.
So what am I currently listening to?
My running and car commute (all 20 minutes of it haha) read is Cross My Heart, Hope to Spy by Ally Carter. I read the first Gallagher Girls novel, I’d Tell You I Love You, But Then I’d Have to Kill You, a few months ago. I really enjoy these books so far; reading them is kind of like hanging out with my girl friends. Plus, I secretly want to be a spy.
I also got my husband hooked on The Maze Runner, by James Dashner, so I restarted it so we could listen together. It’s so engaging and I want to know whats going to happen next! Tonight’s plans revolve around listening to it and eating popcorn. Sounds so nice!
