Top Ten Tuesday: Covers I Wish I Could Redesign

Hello!

Welcome back BookTasty friends for our weekly Top Ten Tuesday meme (hosted by The Broke and Bookish). Today’s Top Ten Tuesday is focused on covers we wish we could redesign. In general I am not that critical of covers, but sometimes there are some that just irk me. Most likely there are more than 10, but the ones mentioned below are some that just seem to stand out to me for whatever reason. The frustrating thing is that some of these are books I really, really enjoy!

City of Bones by Cassandra ClareCity of Bones by Cassandra Clare

I just feel like there are just too many nipples with light radiating from them on this cover.

Wild Things by Clay CarmichaelWild Things by Clay Carmichael

This is a really nice little book, but the cover is just so boring.

Marie Antoinette Serial Killer by Kate AlendarMarie Antoinette Serial Killer by Kate Alender

It’s just too garish.

The Two Princessess of Bamarre by Gail Carson LevineThe Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine

It looks a little too 1980s.

13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen JohnsonThirteen Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson

I’m just not a fan of the way this girl is standing. It looks awkward.

Finale by Becca FitzpatrickThe Hush, Hush series by Becca Fitzpatrick

Someone please draw a shirt on Patch.

Such a Rush by Jennifer EcholsSuch a Rush by Jennifer Echols

I’m just not a fan of the hair in the face I guess.

Icefall by Matthew J. KirbyIcefall by Matthew J. Kirby

I’m finally reading this book (and enjoying it!), but the cover totally prevented me reading it for a LONG time.

Starters by Lissa PriceStarters by Lissa Price

This creepy cover is seriously all that is keeping me from reading it.

Alienated by Melissa LandersAlienated by Melissa Landers

I really would like to read this book because it sounds fun (and it’s not released until 2014), but this cover has just too much going on.

How do you feel about these covers? Are there any that you’d like to redesign as well?

Waiting on Wednesday: Alienated

Well hello again!

Just have to remind everyone that Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine.

Sometimes I see a book and the cover turns me off but then I stop and read the summary and I’m interested. Well, that’s exactly what happened with Alienated by Melissa Landers. Alienated by Melissa Landers

Two years ago, the aliens made contact. Now Cara Sweeney is going to be sharing a bathroom with one of them. Handpicked to host the first-ever L’eihr exchange student, Cara thinks her future is set. Not only does she get a free ride to her dream college, she’ll have inside information about the mysterious L’eihrs that every journalist would kill for. Cara’s blog following is about to skyrocket.

Still, Cara isn’t sure what to think when she meets Aelyx. Humans and L’eihrs have nearly identical DNA, but cold, infuriatingly brilliant Aelyx couldn’t seem more alien. She’s certain about one thing, though: no human boy is this good-looking. But when Cara’s classmates get swept up by anti-L’eihr paranoia, Midtown High School suddenly isn’t safe anymore. Threatening notes appear in Cara’s locker, and a police officer has to escort her and Aelyx to class.

Cara finds support in the last person she expected. She realizes that Aelyx isn’t just her only friend; she’s fallen hard for him. But Aelyx has been hiding the truth about the purpose of his exchange, and its potentially deadly consequences. Soon Cara will be in for the fight of her life—not just for herself and the boy she loves, but for the future of her planet.

Oh my gosh. This cover. There is WAY TOO MUCH going on. Too many colors!  But, I’m totally into the summary! Alientated sounds like it has potential to be a cute sci-fi romance. Since this book isn’t scheduled to release until February 4, 2014 we have some time to wait.  I have hopes that the awful cover isn’t a sign of bad things to come…I want this one to be good! :)

What do you think? What titles are you waiting on this week?

Top Ten Tuesday: Covers with Gowns I Want to Wear

Hi there!

I skipped out on my Top Ten post last Tuesday because life got kind of busy and I kind of forgot about it! Oh well! It’s to be expected because the end of the school year is always a busy and exhausting time.  But I’m back this week! Yay!

For those of you who arent’ familiar with it, Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted by The Broke and Bookish. Every week they post a theme and we create a list surrounding that theme. This week the theme is Favorite Book Covers of Books I’ve Read. I have such a hard time choosing on favorite covers because I like to many different types of covers for so many varied reasons.  So, instead of picking favorites, this week I’m choosing based on Book Covers with Gowns I Want to Wear.

So gorgeous!!

Paranormalcy by Kiersten White2. Paranormalcy by Kiersten White

I love the breezy flow to this one. I do prefer the dress on the cover of Endlessly, but I haven’t read it yet so it doesn’t count.

The Luxe by Anna Godbersen3. The Luxe series books by Anna Godberson

I’m sure it would be insanely heavy but just standing it in for an hour would make me happy.

The Selection by Kiera Cass4. The Selection by Kiera Cass

I do love this one’s fluff, but to be honest I prefer the one on the cover to The Elite…but I haven’t read that one yet.

Etiquette and Espionage by Gail Carriger 5. Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger

WANT.

Bright Young Things by Anna Godbersen6. Bright Young Things by Anna Godbersen

A slinky little one!

I must add that I completely disliked this book. But I can’t help but love that gown!!!

Princess of the Midnight Ball by Jessica Day George8. Princess of the Midnight Ball by Jessica Day George

I love the way it flows and it’s purely fairy tale style.

Matched by Allie Condie9. Matched by Ally Condie

It’s just so green and soft looking!

Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare10. Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

Its Victorian!!!

Aren’t they all so beautiful?! I would love to wear them! There are TONS of other gorgeous gowns on book covers that I also love but I haven’t read them yet or else they’d be on this list. :)

Are there any dresses on book covers that you just wish you could wear? Which of these are your favorites?

Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Cover Art

I know you’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but sometimes its okay. Especially when you have cover art as good as these:

Hot, Salty, Sour, Sweet by Sherri L. Smith

There is something I love about the simply drawn image of the girl on this cover!

Eight Grade Bites by Heather Brewer

Again I love the simple black and white graphic. Vlad Tod is too cool.

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

The artwork is so delicate and I love the lone wolf peeking out.

The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale

I want to live in this cover. I want to be the goose girl lounging against the tree! So gorgeous!

Princess of the Midnight Ball by Jessica Day George

Girl in period costume. Done!

A Tale Dark and Grimm by Adam Gidwitz

Whimsical and dark at the same time. My eyes are automatically drawn to this one on the shelf.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

It’s all about the Mockingjay. Again with simplicity.

Across the Universe by Beth Revis

So romantic and futuristic at the same time.

Life, After by Sarah Darer Littman

This tree is just so pretty and feminine. Reminds me of a quilt for some reason.

Matched by Ally Condie

Intriguing and not crowded. White space can be good! Like.
