Hiya! This month I plan on finishing two great fantasy books and a relaxing summery contemporary. What about you-what’s on your August Reading Queue?
I‘d like to take a moment to introduce you to Colin Thomas!
Colin was born on March 2 (his due date, actually) at 6:01 p.m. and weighed in at 7 lbs. and 13 oz. He was born with his round eyes wide open and a full head of hair! He is pretty stinkin’ awesome and we’ve been enjoying getting to know him more and more over the last week, although it has not been without it’s challenges (haha)!
We received tons of books as gifts for him so we’ve been doing our best to read one each night, when we’re sane enough to remember that is!
I haven’t posted one of these in a while, but I felt so good about this sweet story I just had to!
I just finished A Snicker of Magicby Natalie Lloyd about five minutes ago and it was just “spindiddly” good.
Welcome to the brand new BookTasty site! I’m so excited that the day has finally come!
All the old content is here and, as of today, all the new content will be posted here as well. Also, later this week I’ll be hosting a celebratory Moving Day Giveaway to make sure to check back!
I’d love to hear your thoughts on the new design! Feel free to share in the comment section below!
I know we’re not supposed to judge books based on their covers, but sometimes I totally do just that!
Are you ready for the cover for Sisters’ Fate by Jessica Spotswood?!
Okay, so this isn’t really breaking news because author Jessica Spotswood recently shared the cover for the third book in her Cahill Chronicles trilogy on her own blog, but I’m so in love with this cover I had to share it too!
Here it is!
GAH!! I completely love it! It is seriously my favorite in the series, when we’re talking about the new covers (the original Born Wicked cover was absolutely gorgeous!). GAH! In this one we get to see all three Cahill sisters and that completely fierce expression on Cate’s face is just awesome. She looks like she is ready to kick some major Brotherhood butt.
If you haven’t seen the covers for the other two books in the series here you go:
Jessica Spotswood also announced that Sisters’ Fate wouldn’t be released until August 14, 2014. Yup. 2014.
We have SO LONG to wait! I’ll just spend the next year gazing at the gorgeous cover wishing it into existence!
What do you think of this new cover? Is it your favorite in the series?
One of the first things we did upon moving to Columbia a week ago was to join a gym. It’s a must for us. My old gym membership had expired about two months before we moved so it had been a while since I took a group exercise class. Well, I did a BodyPump class yesterday and boy did my muscles take a beating! I am so sore! It’s that kind of sore where you don’t sit in seats, you fall into them. So, I’ve been doing pretty much nothing but lounging all day today, which includes reading The Lions of Little Rock by Kristin Levine. It’s a quick read so far!
Yay for sore muscles giving me an excuse to sit on my butt and do nothing but enjoy a good book!
Hello and Happy First Day of Summer!
As an educator, I simply adore summer. Summer means rest. Summer means fun. Summer means spending time with your husband or friends at 1 in the afternoon because you’re not at work. And last but not least summer means relaxing with a good book!
Today I’m sipping a cuppa tea, munching on Nilla wafers and reading The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson!
What does summer mean to you?
One of my Battle of the Books team students came into the Media Center to show off her socks which she called “An ode to The Graveyard Book“. The Graveyard Book, by Neil Gaiman, was one of this year’s fifteen Florida Sunshine State Books that the team studied and competed on.
In the book, one of the characters, Ms. Owens, sings a song and she’s unsure of the final lyrics. Since she’s not sure what the lyrics actually are she sings them as “and some hairy bacon”! This student in particular loved this part of the story so when she found her socks she had to have them! Today she ran into my Media Center to show them off!
Aren’t they hilarious?! And I love that they’re bookish!
Summer vacation is completely fabulous! I get to spend time with my husband and friends and do whatever I want because I don’t have to be at work! LOVE IT!!
So, with all this free time I’ve been reading (a lot!). Today I finished reading Born Wicked the first book in Jessica Spotswood’s Cahill Witch Chronicles. I really really liked this book a lot and my review will come soon!
I randomly picked Click Here (To Find Out How I Survived Seventh Grade) by Denise Vega, up from my Media Center and was intrigued by the summary on the back cover. I just finished it and am glad I grabbed it because it’s such a cute fast read! A review will be posted sometime soon.
